The effects of red blood cell transfusion (RBT) on outcome after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) remain controversial. To test the hypothesis that RBT after CABG is associated with increased mortality, a retrospective cohort study was performed. Eight thousand seven hundred and fifty-six patients underwent CABG between January 1995 and December 2000. Mortality was compared in those patients who received RBCs (1) within the first 24 h (n = 3795), and (2) 24 h to 5 days (n = 4823) postoperatively. The groups were also compared with regard to their demographic and clinical characteristics, left ventricular (LV) function, cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) time, myocardial infarction (MI) rate, inotropic requirements, and adverse clinical events. The median patient age was 61 years (range: 33 to 78). There were no differences in the demographics, clinical characteristics, LV function, CPB time, use of inotropic agents or MIs between the two groups. Although the RBT group experienced a shorter ICU stay than the non-RBT group, this difference did not reach statistical significance. Although RBT was not associated with increased mortality in the subgroup of patients who received the transfusion within 24 h, RBT was associated with increased mortality in the subgroup who received the transfusion 24 h to 5 days postoperatively.Objective-C is one of the most popular languages in today’s programming world. Since Objective-C is a fairly simple language, it allows one to write small amount of code at once. Apple continues to improve Objective-C language and when their project Swift came out, it is considered as successor to Objective-C. But, the problem is that Objective-C was never meant for big projects, hence Swift is created to solve this problem. Though Swift has many great features and also some things that Objective-C does not have, but it is still not considered as an alternative for Objective-C. The reason behind this is that both languages are very similar and you 01e38acffe
